澄清湖球場容量兩萬人，新莊只有一萬兩千五百人，但富邦總公司在台北，明年起也可能認養新莊球場，選擇新莊進行開幕戰，被認為相當合適的做法。
悍將隊前身義大犀牛隊去年奪下總冠軍，今年開幕戰擁有挑選對手的權利，並在主場應戰，本來選定高雄澄清湖球場進行創隊首戰，但在新北市政府決定提前開放新莊球場後，富邦高層決定改在新莊球場對決中信。
中職秘書長朱康震表示，新莊球場因應世大運賽事，本來八月底前不借球場，但新北市政府考量北部不能沒有職棒賽，決定從三月廿五日起開放部分比賽。
